COVID-19 Update: Clovis Cases are up to 42, County Total at 672

The Fresno County Department of Public Health reported additional cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, bringing the county’s total to 672 cases.

Health officials said Friday, May 1, that an 86-year-old woman died of the disease. She is the eighth person to die of the virus in Fresno County.

The City of Fresno has the greatest amount of cases in the valley, with 351 cases total. Sanger is in second with 48 cases, followed by Clovis with 42 cases. Selma has 42 cases, while Reedley is at 31, Parlier 27 and Mendota at 28 cases.

Out of the total number of cases reported, 273 were community spread or originated from an unknown source, 44 were travel related, 266 were spread by close contact and 89 are still under investigation.

According to the FCDPH, there are 402 active cases of COVID-19 in the county. At least 236 people have recovered from the contagious virus.
