Want to help out a high school senior? Here is your chance

Members of Clovis High School are giving the community a chance to send a little extra love to departing seniors with its Adopt A Senior 2020 program.

“The general idea is that parents post photos and a small write-up about their senior and someone decides to “adopt” them and essentially shower them with gifts, cards, etc.,” moderator of the program’s Facebook page Jeanette Bedwell said in an email to the Roundup. “Anything to recognize their accomplishments and support them during this time.”

To make it a success, Bedwell said, those who wish to adopt should follow a simple process on the Facebook group’s page.

First, it is one post per senior. Then start the post off by typing “not adopted”.

Introduce the senior and share a few things about them, making sure to include all of the Clovis Unified schools that they attended as some like to support because of a specific school.

Add a few pictures and once the senior is adopted, edit the post to say “not adopted” to “adopted”.

Bedwell said to post the pictures of the senior only in the comment section of the post along with the gifts that they receive.

There are no limits on how many times a senior can be adopted, but Bedwell asks people to consider those who have not been.

“We want all of our kiddos to feel the love! Please feel free to invite friends and family to this group,” she wrote. “Everyone is encouraged to pass this along so we can get our seniors adopted and cared for.”
