TRAC tennis teams advance to second round of Central Section CIF Division I Championships

Entering the first round of the Central Section CIF Les Schwab Division 1 Boys Tennis Championships, the Clovis North Broncos entered as the top seed in Division I followed by their Tri-River Athletic Conference opponents.

The Broncos were No. 1, Clovis West sat No. 3, followed by the Buchanan Bears at No.6, the Clovis Cougars at No.8 and the Clovis East Timberwolves at No.13.

With 15 teams total competing in Division I, the Central Section Championships were split into multiple days and on the Wednesday, April 24, all the top seeds in the tournament advanced into the next round.

Except for the Broncos, who clinched a first-round bye.

Out of the TRAC tennis teams, only the Timberwolves failed to out make it out of the first round. However, Clovis East faced a daunting matchup with No. 4 Liberty, losing 6-0.

No.3 Clovis West shutout No.14 Atascadero 9-0, No. 6 Buchanan defeated No. 11 Paso Robles 8-1 and No.8 Clovis narrowly beat Redwood 5-4.

The TRAC winners advanced to the quarterfinals next week on Tuesday, April 30.

Clovis North will take on Clovis, while Clovis West will face Buchanan in the quarterfinals.

The semi-finals will be held on May 2 and the final will be held on May 7.

Individual matches open this weekend, April 26 and 27 at Buchanan.
