Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) is set to hold its annual Fresno Walk Like MADD 5K Saturday, Sept. 9 at Fresno State’s Satellite Student Union to raise funds to support its mission to stop drunk driving, support victims, and prevent underage drinking. All of the monies raised will stay here in the Central Valley.

Participants have the option of starting a team, join an existing team or walking solo. After the race, MADD will offer refreshments, a health and safety fair, a kids’ zone, teen scene, a pooch parlor as well as live entertainment and a tribute area to honor the victims of drunk driving crashes.

MADD is the driving force behind positive changes that make roads safer for everyone through its programs, services and advocacy efforts such as the Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving that calls for high visibility law enforcement, mandatory interlocks for all convicted DUI offenders and advanced technology that makes it impossible for a drunk driver to start their car. MADD also supports victims programs to help them cope with the tragic loss of a loved one at no cost, implement education programs for the youth and provides equipment and volunteer-support to local police that assists them at sobriety checkpoints.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m.
