The results are in for ABC Pack & Print’s pet selfie contest.

Mellie, a small pooch adopted by owner Peggy Davis, was named the winner on Feb. 22 via Facebook.

As a gift to go along with the honor, Mellie and Davis received a free 8-by-10 photo courtesy of the ABC Pack & Print staff.

Davis expresses appreciation to the shop’s social media followers that voted for her pup.

“Thank you to everyone who voted for our baby girl,” she wrote. “We adopted Mellie last year in April from Valley Animal Center where my friend, Devon Prendergast, works. It’s a wonderful no-kill shelter that I love and support. They rescued Mellie from an SPCA where she was on the short-timers list. Every time I look into her eyes, I am sad that her previous family gave her away, but then I realize they were never her forever family. Mellie was on a journey to us, and we are truly her forever family.”

She also noted how Mellie has impacted her life since the adoption.

“We love her so much,” Davis added. “She is happy, and spoiled, and the center of our lives. Her personality is still coming through as she realizes she is safe and secure. She can be as crazy as she wants to be, from stealing butter out of the butter dish on the kitchen counter, to bringing dirt in from outside and depositing it on our pillows when we have been gone from the house for too long. She is our little angel sent to us from heaven.”
