In honor of Read across America Day, Gettysburg Elementary partnered with Fresno State football players and Coach Tim DeRuyter to bring Dr. Seuss’ books to life in all Gettysburg classrooms.

Read across America Day is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2, which is Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens and books.

When the Fresno State football players arrived at Gettysburg Elementary, they dispersed – each with a Dr. Seuss book in hand – to various classrooms where they read their book to students.

They made their way around campus so that every classroom got to have one of the football players or Coach DeRuyter read Dr. Seuss to them.
