The public and members of the media are invited to a special session of the Clovis City Council on Monday, March 25 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber.

The meeting was called in order to swear in newly re-elected Councilmembers Drew Bessinger, Jose Flores and Bob Whalen. The City Clerk will administer the Oath of Office.

Councilmembers Bessinger, Flores and Whalen were re-elected during the city’s general municipal election on March 5, 2019. The three Councilmembers will serve for a term through November 2022.

The remainder of the Council consists of Councilmembers Lynne Ashbeck and Vong Mouanoutoua, whose terms expire in March 2021.

In addition to the swearing-in ceremony, Councilmembers will also elect one member to serve as mayor and another to serve as mayor pro tem.

Clovis voters elect a five-member council to serve as the city’s legislative and governing body. The members serve four year terms and they elect one member to serve as mayor and another to serve as mayor pro tem for 2 years.

Bob Whalen has served two terms as Mayor, his most recent since 2017. During Monday’s meeting he will be recognized by the Council for his service.
