Coronavirus Update: Fresno County Reaches 200 Cases

Fresno County Dept. of Public Health has reported 201 cases of COVID-19 as of April 11. 

The Fresno County Department of Public Health reported 201 cases of COVID-19 April 11, almost a month after the city issued a shelter in place order to slow the spread of the virus.

The FCDPH also reported two additional COVID-19 deaths, bringing the total amount of people who have died from the disease in Fresno County to five.

The number of community-spread cases continues to rise, as 70 out of the 201 cases were confirmed to be community transmitted. Thirty-six of the cases were travel related, 60 were spread person-to –person (close contact) and 35 are still under investigation.

The FCDPH said 49 people in Fresno County have been hospitalized since the outbreak began. Valley health officials say 31 of those people have recovered.

The FCDPH’s Communicable Disease Investigation Program is currently monitoring 220 people of the contagious disease.

Health officials continue to urge valley residents to follow social distancing and shelter in place guidelines to prevent the spread of the disease.
