The City of Clovis issued an emergency order April 2 to waive parking restrictions on recreational vehicles to allow essential workers to isolate themselves from family during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

The Clovis Municipal Code currently limits the amount of time an RV is allowed to park on the street or in the driveway of a home.

The order temporarily lifts the restriction to allow essential workers to isolate themselves to prevent exposure of COVID-19 from family members or other occupants in their home who may carry the contagious disease.

The order also applies to those who have been ordered by a doctor to self-isolate.

The parking restriction still remains in effect for all others who do not qualify under the city’s guidelines.

“This order recognizes the need for certain individuals to self-isolate to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and recognizes the financial benefits and convenience of utilizing existing recreational vehicles for this purpose,” the city said in a statement.

Individuals who self-isolate in RVs are expected to follow all city health and safety guidelines in regards to water, wastewater, gas and electricity use.

The city asks residents who would like to take advantage of the order to contact Jennifer Campbell at JenniferC@CityofClovis.com or call at 559-324-2554 to provide documentation from a medical provider or employer.
