Clovis Police Makes Arrests After High Speed Chase

On Thursday, May 7, Clovis Police Detectives arrested two suspects in a residence after a high speed pursuit on Herndon Avenue through Clovis.

It began at roughly 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon, when Clovis PD officers spotted a stolen vehicle driving eastbound on Herndon near Willow Avenue. When attempting to pull the vehicle over, the driver of the vehicle sped away.

A chase quickly ensued as the driver sped up to speeds of 90 miles per hour. The pursuit was eventually called off for the safety of the public.

Shortly after, police detectives located the vehicle abandoned near Herndon and Highland Avenues. Authorities was able to track the suspects to a nearby residence where a search warrant was authored and served.

Detectives was able to locate three people in a residence located in the 9000 block of East Herndon. One of three were eventually identified as the driver of the stolen vehicle.

Upon further investigation, police officers discovered several illegal firearms in their possession.

Arrested was 18-year-old Adam Bustos, charged with: possession of stolen vehicle, evading a police officer, and violation of AB-109 probation. He booked into Fresno County Jail but was release early this morning due to the current state’s zero dollar bail rule.

The second arrest was 42-year-old Damien Phillips of Fresno. He was arrested for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia. Phillips is currently being treated at a local hospital due to an unrelated medical condition, he is to be booked into Fresno County Jail once released.
