City of Clovis to Enforce Price Gouge Order

The City of Clovis will begin enforcing a Price Gouging Order in light of the COVID-19 crisis.

Price gouging at any time or place is a serious crime, more so in a time of crisis. The order is to protect residents from being taken advantage of by store owners or merchants who raise prices on essential goods and services during a declared state of emergency.

Details of the Price Gouge Order includes:

  • It is unlawful to offer goods or services for a price of more than 10% greater than what was prior to the City’s March 16, 2020 declaration of local emergency.
  • Penalties include $1,000 per violation.
  • This order is in effect immediately and will be enforced.

We know our merchants care about this community and expect that we will continue to see very few cases of price gouging.

If you think you have experienced price gouging please contact Clovis Police at (559) 324-2800.
