The City of Clovis announced Friday, April 24, that it would allow pet groomers to reopen.

Pet Groomers who reopen must follow health protocols, such as social distancing between employees and customers.

The City of Clovis of Clovis said it consulted with the Fresno County Department of Public Health on if the city could allow pet groomers to reopen. The FCDPH responded by leaving the decision to the city.

“The City reviewed the State’s Order and, after consulting with Fresno County Health Department and receiving clarification that they do not have a prohibition against it, has determined that pet grooming can be considered a form of allowable animal care and has informed pet groomers in the City of Clovis that they have the ability to operate as an essential business,” the city said in statement posted to social media.

Clovis continues to follow the state’s shelter-in-place order, which remains in effect until further notice.
