Veterans Memorial Stadium will remain the home of the CIF Track and Field Championships through 2020, California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Executive Director Roger Blake announced Friday.

The CIF Executive Committee will vote on June 16 to affirm the recommendation to extend the agreement with Clovis.

“CIF and our more than 800,000 student-athletes are grateful to the city of Clovis and its community for their commitment,” Blake said in a news release. “We are proud to continue to call Veterans Memorial Stadium the home of the CIF State Track and Field Championships.”

The new three-year agreement, which will run from 2018-2020, includes the event’s 100th anniversary next year. Veterans Memorial Stadium has hosted the CIF State Track and Field Championships since 2009.

“I am so proud of our Clovis Unified team of more than 500 employees and volunteers who have worked during the last nine years in partnership with CIF to deliver high quality, memorable experiences for our student athletes, fans and community,” Clovis Unified Superintendent Janet Young said in a statement. “We are both honored and thrilled to have our partnership continue into the future.”

Annually, more than 800 student-athletes from across the state compete in 32 events during the two-day event.
