Saint Agnes Medical Center has furloughed 175 staff members due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The reason for the furloughs come from financial losses due to the decrease in elective surgeries and emergency room visits during this time of crisis.

The furloughs can last up to eight weeks or more. Employees affected were from varies departments of the hospital ranging from food services to surgery.

Hospital officials stated that in addition to the 175 furloughs, executives are taking pay cuts of up to 15 percent or more to cope with the losses.

The furloughed employees are eligible for unemployment benefits in the meantime.

Saint Agnes Medical Center is just one of the many hospitals all across the country who is experiencing this as a result of COVID-19.
