Despite the recent foreclosure of Sierra Vista Mall, the management company that represents the mall’s new owners is optimistic about the future. Fred Meno, president and CEO of asset services for The Woodmont Company, states that Woodmont will now handle lease administration and marketing, though the Clovis on-site staff will be retained.
“General Manager Greg Newman and his staff will continue to operate the mall,” Meno said. “All tenants have been notified of the change of ownership, and I am positive we can work with them and also attract new tenants on the local, regional and national scale.”
This is one of a few main priorities Meno claims that the new owners – Miami-based LNR Property, with ownership listed as COMM 2006-C8 Shaw Avenue Clovis LLC – will address at the mall.
“Occupancy at Sierra Vista Mall needs improvement,” he said. “One of our main priorities will be to fill the 41,000 sq. ft. anchor store that Gottschalks previously occupied.”
They will also be looking to fill several other locations that Meno dubs “first generation occupants,” meaning that the spaces have never been fully built out.
However, with a good track record of managing almost 18 million square feet of commercial space, including the Tulare Outlet Center, Woodmont has the capacity to transcend whatever limitations the previous owner may have faced. Meno said that he is excited to enhance what he calls the “good fundamentals” of the space at Sierra Vista.
“Sierra Vista Mall has a great location, good ingress/egress and a good mix of enclosed and lifestyle components that are anchored by great big box stores and the Sierra Vista Cinema 16,” he said. “We intend to ramp up the mall’s event schedule as well, so there will be more art, music and more of what patrons of the mall enjoy.”
It appears that Clovis residents can look forward to positive changes coming to Sierra Vista Mall, including new stores, improved signage and car and pedestrian access.
For now, Sierra Vista Mall will operate with no change in services. The mall is located on the southeast corner of Clovis and Shaw avenues. They are open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 9p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Restaurant, department stores and cinema hours may vary.
