May 1 City Council Meeting Notes

BY TOMAS KASSAHUN

The City of Clovis presented a proclamation to assistant public utilities director Lisa Koehn, declaring May as “Water Awareness Month.”

Koehn received the proclamation during the Clovis City Council Meeting on May 1.

Earlier this spring, the city set its water conservation schedule for the next 12 months.

From now to Oct. 31, customers with even numbered addresses are allowed to use water outdoors on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays only. Customers with odd numbered addresses are allowed to use water outdoors on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays only.

Outdoor water use on Mondays is not allowed.

During watering days, customers are not restricted to a particular hour for watering. However, the city says watering earlier in the day will reduce the amount of evaporation.

From Nov. 1 through March 31, customers with even numbered addresses will be allowed to use water outdoors on Sundays only. Customers with odd numbered addresses will be allowed to use water outdoors on Saturdays only. Outdoor water use will not be allowed from Monday through Friday.

Also at the city council meeting on May 1, the city presented a plaque to outgoing Planning Commissioner Michael Pawlowski.

Tomas has been with us since 2016. His willingness to always step up to the plate and his diversity in reporting is what makes him special to us. Whether it is sports, city council meetings, board meetings, profiles, or breaking news - this guy can do it all.
