Local gymnasts compete at State Championships

On the weekend of March 19-20, Clovis Academy gymnast Madison Isaak traveled to the Jackson Sports Academy in Sacramento to compete in the Level 10 State Championships, hosted by Byers Roseville.

There, she placed 13th all-around in Junior B, Session 3. Her all-around score was 34.275. Her best event showing was on vault, for which she tied for sixth place with a score of 9.300. She came in 11th on bars, with a score of 8.200, 12th on balance beam with a score of 7.950, and 13th on floor, with a score of 8.825.

Also competing at the State Championships in Level 10, was CCGI gymnast Destiny Watley. Watley placed 12th all-around in Junior B, Session 3, with an all-around score of 34.500. Her best event showing was also on vault, for which she tied for eighth place, with a score of 9.250. Watley came in 11th on both balance beam and floor, with scores of 8.125 and 9.050, respectively. She also came in 12th on bars, with a score of 8.075.

A few local gymnasts also competed in Level 9 at the State Championships.

Clovis Academy’s Makayla McMahon competed on vault and floor in Junior B, Session 1, placing 11th on both events with scores of 9.000 and 8.800, respectively.

Clovis Academy’s Jesslyn Peterson competed in Junior C, Session 1, and earned ninth all-around, with an all-around score of 34.200. Her best event was bars, for which she tied for sixth place with a score 8.275. Petersen took seventh on beam, with a score of 8.650; eighth on vault, with a score of 8.850; and 10th on floor, with a score of 8.425.

Also competing from Clovis Academy was Annaya Jones. Jones placed sixth all-around, with a score of 33.300, in Senior B, Session 2. Jones placed seventh on beam, with a score of 8.275; tied for seventh on vault, with a score of 8.800; placed eighth on bars with a 7.825; and placed 11th on floor, with a score of 8.400.

A couple gymnasts from CCGI also competed at Level 9. Luciana Gonzales tied for second all-around in Junior C, Session 1, with a score of 35.750. Gonzales earned a gold medal for her vault, for which she scored 9.500. Gonzales placed fourth on bars, tied for fourth on balance beam and tied for eighth on floor, with scores of 8.650, 8.925 and 8.675, respectively.

CCGI’s Karlie Burdick also competed at Level 9, in Junior A, Session 1. Burdick placed 13th all-around, with a score of 34.000. Her best event was floor, for which she earned eighth place with a score of 9.125. She also tied for eighth on vault, with a score of 9.100. She scored 13th on bars and 14th on beam, with scores of 7.875 and 7.900, respectively.

Two CCGI gymnasts also competed at Level 9 in Senior A, Session 1. Adelyn Barbee placed seventh all-around with a score of 35.850. Barbee placed fourth on floor, with a score of 9.175; seventh on beam, with a score of 8.950; tied for seventh on bars, with a score of 8.875; and 13th on vault, with a score of 8.850. Gymnast Leilah Diaz placed 11th all-around, with a score of 34.800. Diaz placed fourth on vault, with a score of 9.200; sixth on beam, with a score of 8.975; tied for seventh on floor, with a score of 9.100; and placed 12th on bars, with a score of 7.525.

Gymnasts from Clovis Academy and CCGI also competed at Level 8.

Clovis Academy’s Jaycee Petersen competed in Junior A, Session 5, and placed 14th all-around, with a score of 34.000. Her best event was floor, for which she placed ninth with a score of 9.000. Petersen placed 10th on vault, with a score of 8.400; 14th on bars, with a score of 8.475; and 14th on beam, with a score of 8.125.

Clovis Academy’s Chloe Rodriguez competed in three events in Senior A, Session 6. She placed eighth on vault, with a score of 8.550; ninth on bars, with a score of 8.475; and 11th on floor, with a score of 8.825.

Two Clovis Academy gymnasts competed in Senior C, Session 6. Skyy Vang placed fifth all-around, with a score of 35.300. Vang placed fourth on beam, with a score of 9.125; fifth on bars, with a score of 8.950; ninth on vault, with a score of 8.425; and tied for ninth on floor, with a score of 8.800. Clovis Academy’s Erin McHatten only competed on bars and tied for third place with a score of 9.025.

Two gymnasts from CCGI competed in Child B, Session 4. Kellis Dieter placed seventh all-around, with a score of 36.075. Dieter placed fourth on vault, with a score of 9.250; fifth on floor, with a score of 9.200; seventh on beam, with a score of 8.900; and 10th on bars, with a score of 8.725. Meghan Tandy tied for 13th all-around, with a score of 34.000. Tandy placed 11th on vault, with a score of 8.400; 11th on beam, with a score of 8.750; 13th on bars, with a score of 8.325; and 14th on floor, with a score of 8.525.

CCGI’s Sydney Daily placed eighth all-around in Child D, Session 4, with a score of 35.025. Daily tied for fourth on floor, with a score of 9.075; placed seventh on bars, with a score of 8.875; placed ninth on beam, with a score of 8.825; and placed 10th on vault, with a score of 8.250.

CCGI’s Sydney Perkins competed in Senior B, Session 6. Perkins placed 13th all-around, with a score of 33.600. Perkins placed eighth on beam, with a score of 8.675; 11th on floor, with a score of 8.950; 12th on vault, with a score of 8.425; and 13th on bars, with a score of 7.550.

CCGI’s Haley Brummet competed in three events in Senior C, Session 6. Brummet placed sixth on floor, with a score of 9.025; seventh on beam, with a score of 8.800; and seventh on vault, with a score of 8.600.
