One of our favorite car shows of the year takes place in Clovis. For the 10th year, Clovis First Assembly of God Church, located at the corner of Barstow and Sunnyside, held their annual car show. Cars, trucks and motorcycles gathered on the lawn and in the parking lot with one common goal: to strengthen our community and share each other’s hard work and passion. The participants of this event understood the importance of this fundraiser and helped make it a success. Most of the participants at this event have been coming to this show since it’s beginning and are looking forward to returning next year to kick off the car show season.
It is the churches largest and main fundraising event for the year, raising proceeds for the Loaves and Fishes Food Ministry. The proceeds from this event and others make it possible to distribute food each month to the needy working poor and elderly within our local community. Also, each year they give the kids backpacks filled with school supplies to start off the new school year.
If you arrived early in the morning, coffee and doughnuts were available to start your day. If you missed breakfast, later in the day you could grab a tri-tip sandwich, Mexican food or the kid favorites, hot dogs and popcorn. Again, this year Byron and Michael Brantley donated all the food for the BBQ and the money generated was also given to the Ministry. Everyone was entertained by great sounds from the “One Touch Band.”
Since its beginning 10 years ago, Pat Reed has been the go to person that makes this show happen and run smoothly. This was Pat’s last show as event director as she is stepping down and letting someone else handle the job. The new director has some big shoe’s to fill. Everyone would like to thank Pat for all her hard work and dedication to this event.
